Traditional 6th International Tennis Tournament “Karven Open 2014” was held on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul and collected tennis fans from 7 countries including the United States of America, Hungary, Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan.

The uniqueness of this tournament is that it takes place in one of the most beautiful places on Earth – on the shore of the unique lake Issyk-Kul in the elite recreation center “Karven Four Seasons”. And apart from the competition, the participants have the unique opportunity to relax, play football, bowling, billiards, beach volleyball and football, as well as see the beautiful places and museums of Issyk-Kul.

Thanks to the popularity of this tournament the geography of this kind of sport is expanding with each year. In this 6th International Tournament “Karven Open 2014” hosted the amateurs from seven countries: Mr. Imre Laslotski, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, Mr. Ferenc Blaumann, the Consul General of Hungary in Almaty, three representatives of the United States – Mr. Fred Houston, the regional director of the International Organization for Law and Development, LL.D, Mr. Seth Phiri who for many years managed the international organization Peace Corps in Kyrgyzstan, and now professor of AUCA, a compatriot of our country in the past and now a manager of “IKEF” Texas – Mr. Evgeniy Semenov, three representatives of Russia – a businessman, Mr. Andrei Rechetov, the General Director of “LANTEK CAPITAL” – Mr. Andrey Litvinov and the entrepreneur – Boris Abidhanov and co-founder of a major international law firm “KPMG” in Moscow – Mr. Viktor Akulyan, the representatives of businesses and professional sports in the past from Kazakhstan – Mr. Kairat Omarov, Mr. Sergei Shakhvorostov, Mr. Igor Pupchonok, Mr. Timur Murzhukov, the well-known in Kyrgyzstan businessmen, entrepreneurs, athletes – Mr. Vladimir Semyonov and Ms. Nadezhda Semenova, Mr. Mazhit Kassymov, Mr. Henry Balian, Mr. Bakit Kydyraliev, Mr. Mirsaid Mirdzhaliev, Mr. Sergei Sokolov, Mr. Kubanichbek Kasiev, Mr. Alexander Andreev, Mr. Nikolay Belyaev, and Mr. Taalai Razzakov.

The number of applicants to participate in this tournament is growing by every year, so the tournament organizers have built two tennis courts, and now the competition can be carried out simultaneously on 4 courts.

By the end of the three-day tournament for the title of champions of the 6th International Tournament “Karven Open 2014” the pair S.Shahvorostov (Almaty) - T.Murzhukov (Astana) won the golden medals, the silver medals were awarded to M.Mirdzhalieva (Bishkek) - I.Pupchonka (Almaty), and the third place was given to the pair G.Balyan (Bishkek) - A.Reshetov (Moscow).

In addition to the solid prize fund from the General sponsor of the tournament “Demir Kyrgyz International Bank”, the winners received crystal cups, medals and diplomas, and the distinguished pairs were awarded with cups in special nominations.

All the participants of the tournament have noted the high level of organization, increased professional level of amateurs, internationalist spirit, had so much fun from vacation and service in this wonderful recreation center, and expressed a desire to come along next year with their families.
